The Loire ValleyAfter our lunch in Le Mans, we continued our drive south to the Loire Valley famous for an abundance of Chateau. Our Chateau Upon our arrival in the Loire Valley, we set out looking for the perfect bed and breakfast. It took most of our afternoon, but we finally came across this wonderful Chateau called "Chateau de La Voute". The photograph is a little skewed because it's actually 4 or 5 photos strung together. The actual chateau is not as warped as the picture makes it look. The inside Our room in the chateau was even better than the outside. It was decorated with antique furniture, and a 4 post bed. It was a great place to stay for 2 nights. Ruins In the neighboring city of Montoire (about 5k to the east) there was a ruined castle on the top of a hill. We tried to drive and walk up there, but all access was cut off. Sunflowers The French seem to have two main crops throughout the country. The first is corn, which we discovered is only used for animal feed, and the second is Sunflowers! In some areas, the sunflowers would stretch as far as the eye could see. |
